This review of literature is written to highlight the problems of the impact of masked depressions on the course, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Recently, the prevalence of diagnosed masked depressions among cardiac patients has increased, which is a factor in changing the approaches of management of patients. This article provides the analysis of the number of hypotheses on the pathogenetic mechanisms of development of cardiovascular complications on the background of depressive disorders, as well as the analysis of the epidemiological situation in the Russian Federation. The problem of diagnostics of the states mentioned above and its possible solutions are indicated in this article. We analyzed current scientific literature and periodicals on this issue.
